Speeding Fines.
Nobody wants to get them. However, it’s pretty easy to start speeding and before you know it you end up with a fine. The roads today are littered with speed cameras, speed traps and traffic police - so its easy to get points, receive speeding fines and even lose your license - all in a single day. Its always worth taking a few moments for self analysis to try and understand why you speed - after all prevention is better than cure. There are several common and basic reasons that people end up speeding. Once you understand what they are, then you can work on fixing the problem so you don’t get a fine. These are the most common reasons people speed, and how to avoid them in the future.
Reason #1 - You Don’t Notice the Speed Changed - One of the main reasons that people end up speeding, which often results in speeding fines, is because they don’t even realize that the speed limit has changed. On many of the roads across the UK, you’ll find that the speed does change from time to time. On many roads the speed limit actually changes, and it is, unfortunately, easy to miss if you aren’t paying attention. Before you know it you end up being pulled over and given a ticket for speeding, and you never even realized you were doing something wrong. A speed change is one of the main reasons that people end up paying fines - so stay focussed.
The Solution:
If you are not the most observant driver and notice speed changes, there are other things you can do to mitigate this, and avoid speeding fines. Never get complacent, always look out for road signs. Instead of paying so much attention to everything else, keep watchful for speed limit signs and also keep an eye on other vehicles around you. When you notice other vehicles slowing down, it may be because the speed has changed.
Reason #2 - You are Not Concentrating on Driving - Another of the common reasons that people end up getting speeding fines is because they were not concentrating on driving. Unfortunately, the quality and comfort of cars today make it all to simple to travel from a to b, without having to pay that much attention to actually driving. Keep focussed, and switch off distractions where you can, including the radio and even talking in some cases. If you are distracted, it’s easy to start going a bit faster, and soon you are speeding and you end up getting caught by a camera going far too fast.
The Answer:
Do you want to remedy this situation? Remember, concentration is a key aspect when driving, even after you pass your test - if not more so. Try to avoid things that take your mind off what you are doing. Focus on your speed. Simply glance to the speedometer and check regulary how fast you are travelling. This way you don’t just go speeding off, and end up with a hefty speeding fine.
Reason #3 - Road Aggression - This is one of the key reasons why people end up speeding today. If you are upset or annoyed, its easy to speed without realising. Dont get hot and mad, and antagonised because if you do your driving will become reckless. If you arent’ focussed on the driving, and are wound up - or in a unsafe state of mind to drive, you’ll probably end up speeding without realising, and before you know it you’ll have broken a speed limit somewhere.
The Answer:
The answer is simple - if you aren’t calm, dont drive. Is a speeding fine really going to make you feel better, compared to being a few minutes late. Number one rule is not get mad and keep a cool temper if you are driving. This may not only result in a speeding ticket, but driving aggressively could get you in bigger trouble, or even in a bad vehicle crash.
Reason #4 - Running Late - Running late is one of the big reasons so many people end up speeding around. They end up speeding just to make it a few moments earlier, when in fact in trying to drop the kids off or make it to work, they have endanged the lives of others, and incurred a speeding fine - is it really worth it. In a split second you’ll have incurred a speeding fines, and you wont even know its happened.
How to Fix It:
Sadly something so simple is often the reason people end up getting a fine for speeding. More haste, less speed - seriously, its easy to speed when you think you’re going to be later. The only way to avoid being late, and justifying it by speeding, is to leave early. If you are running behind, call ahead to let someone know. I’m sure you’d rather pay the fine, than end up being in a serious accident, when you are simply trying not to be late.
Reason #5 - The Road Seems Deserted - Dont take this as an excuse to speed, you never know who is around the corner. Ignorance isn’t bliss - dont speed simply because it looks safe. Even at night its not safe to speed, the road may be clear but the speed traps dont. Just when you think it’s okay to go a bit faster, you may end up with a speeding fine.
The Answer:
If the road is quiet, this doesn’t give you permission to speed. In reality, none of us know what we are going to meet on the road. If you really want to avoid speeding fines, then simply just follow the speed limits.
